Ansonia native to promote film project at harvest festival
ANSONIA - On Wednesday I chatted by phone with John Denton about his feature film project. An Ansonia High School Class of 2007 grad, he is now living in San Francisco and studying film-making.
The coming of age film Denton is directing is called simply, "Ansonia."
He said he's going to have a booth at the Oct. 5 Ansonia Harvest Festival where he will give out movie posters and other items to promote the project.
Denton, 24, expressed his gratitude for the support city officials have given him.
Film producer Hannah Blackwell will be accompanying Denton.
He said she's looking forward to her first visit to Ansonia and seeing the "small town lifestyle" he has described.
Denton plans to film scenes in Ansonia next June. He said Wakelee Avenue, where his parents reside, is on the list of locations.
Denton said he'll also be launching a Kickstarter page to fund his project.
Stay tuned for more information.

Ansonia native discusses film about hometown
I had the opportunity to meet filmmaker John Denton, 24, Wednesday when he was back in the Valley for a visit.
Denton is an interesting and intense young man who is dedicated to his craft. He is getting ready to direct a feature film, "Ansonia," about a young man who returns to his hometown after suffering a mental breakdown.
Denton, a 2007 graduate of Ansonia High School, said "Ansonia" is a coming of age film. "It's my passion project," he said. "I can't imagine doing anything else."
Denton has already cast the main characters in San Francisco, but he will be looking for extras in the Valley.
Filming will take place on Wakelee Avenue in Ansonia, where his parents live. Denton also has several restaurants and locations in mind for filming scenes.
"Ansonia has been good to me," Denton said. "I want to do the Valley justice."
I wish him all the best in his project. Stay tuned for updates.

SEYMOUR - Downtown became "Bedford Falls" (as in the Frank Capra holiday classic "It's A Wonderful Life") Saturday afternoon.
Hundreds came to join in festivities organized by resident Kim Dulka, owner of The All-American General Store on Columbus Street.
People singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" enjoyed horse-drawn carriage rides from The All-American General Store throughout historic downtown Seymour.
Dulka's store was temporarily transformed into "Mr. Gower's Drugstore."
The above information was taken from a press release.
