Ansonia Roads to Close Oct. 31 & Nov. 1

ROAD CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

 

 

On October 31, 2019 and November 1, 2019, the City of Ansonia will be closing Clifton Avenue to all southbound traffic for the milling and paving of Clifton Avenue between Father Lar Drive and Division Street. 

 

On October 31, 2019, the road will be closed from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

On November 1, 2019, the road will be closed from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

 

Traffic delays in the area may occur.

Road Closure in Ansonia

Part of Wakelee Avenue to Close

The following information is from Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch:

 

 

ANSONIA - Wakelee Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Division Street to Jackson Street starting at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday December 8, 2018 until further notice. Residences and businesses south of Mary Street, address numbers 20 to 167, can be accessed from Division Street and Hall Street. Residences and businesses north of Mary Street, address numbers 171 to 199, can be accessed from Burton Street, Church Street and Jackson Street.

 

There will be road closed signs posted on Wakelee Avenue at Division Street and Jackson Street. Officers will also be posted at those locations, if you need to access Wakelee Avenue in the areas listed above please advise the officer and they will allow you access. Mary Street will remain closed to through traffic until further notice, only residents of Mary Street are allowed access.

 

Thank you for patience, work is being done as quickly as possible to rectify the problem. 

Route 34 to Close for Overnight Construction

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced overnight closures on Route 34 in Derby from Friday July 7, to Sunday, July 9, from the intersections with Route 115 to Route 8, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.       

 

State Representative Linda Gentile (D-104) would like to caution drivers during this construction period.

 

“It’s important to help ConnDOT spread the word about this construction so that area motorists can plan their commutes accordingly,” Rep. Gentile said.  “I also want to stress the need for motorists to take extra precautions while driving during this construction period to ensure public safety.”

  

The closures are necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation and widening of Bridge Number 00947, Route 34, Main Street, over the Naugatuck River. The closures are also required to install new overhead permanent signage.

 

If necessary, due to inclement weather on Sunday, the closure period may be extended to include Monday July 10, 2017. 

 

A detour will be in place utilizing Route 115 (Derby Avenue), Division Street in Ansonia to cross the Naugatuck River, Pershing Drive and Route 8.

Thanksgiving Day Race Road Closures

There will be several road closures in Derby and Shelton during the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day Road Race on Thursday, November 24 while the race is taking place. The race begins and ends at the Farmer’s Market on Canal Street in Shelton at 8:00 am. During the race Canal Street will be closed to traffic from Wharf, Hill and Cornell Streets. There will be one lane of traffic open on Howe Avenue (Rt. 110) between Cornell Street and Bridge Street. The Bridge between Derby and Shelton will be closed.

In Derby, Main Street (Rt. 34) will be closed between Olivia and Elizabeth Streets with detours during the race. Access to Elizabeth Street from Main Street up to the Derby Public Library at Seymour Avenue will also be limited during the race.

The race begins at 8:00 am, and it is anticipated that all runners will be off the course by 9:00 am and all roads reopened to traffic.

In the event of snow, the race may be cancelled or an alternate route used which would not involve closure of state roads. We'll have notices of any cancellation or change in plans on the website as well as on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
