Griffin Hospital Offers Ongoing Summer Bereavement Support Groups

DERBY - Griffin Hospital is offering ongoing support groups this summer for anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one.

 

These groups are assisted by caregivers in Griffin’s Department of Spiritual Care and Education and provide grief education and support to ease the pain of loss as well as encouraging healing and growth. There will be groups meeting on Mondays from 4-5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6:30-8 p.m. at the hospital, 130 Division St., Derby.

 

Due to limited capacity, pre-registration is required.

Wesley Village in Shelton to host support group

Focus will be on dealing with loss
SHELTON - Wesley Village will host “Dealing with Loss over the Holidays,” a support group for caregivers and families, at 2 p.m. Nov. 20.

Holiday time is not easy for many people, especially those who have lost loved ones.

Join the Rev. Jim Stinson, Director of Spiritual Life at Wesley Village, as he talks about the realities of this challenging time and offers coping strategies for individuals and families.

This program will include: an overview of why holidays are so difficult, helpful tips on how to remember a loved one (while still enjoying the holidays), and practical ways to cope with loss.

The group will be held at Crosby Commons Assisted Living Community, 580 Long Hill Ave.
