Sleep apnea topic of talk at Griffin Hospital in Derby

DERBY - Learn how to get a better night’s sleep at a free discussion about snoring and sleep apnea at 6:30 p.m. April 16 at Griffin Hospital.

Dr. K. Marya Chaisson, Director of The Sleep Wellness Center at Griffin Hospital, will present “Get a Better Night’s Sleep” to give attendees more insight into the causes of sleep problems and ways to get a good night's sleep as well as answer questions about stopping snoring and sleep apnea.
Chaisson is board certified in sleep medicine, internal medicine, critical care, and pulmonary disease, giving her a broad scope of expertise.

Most people who suffer from snoring and sleep apnea are unaware of the consequences of how it affects their daytime and nighttime functions.
A person with sleep apnea finds it hard to breathe during sleep due to a partial or complete collapse of their breathing passage. The airway collapse is usually identified by a family member complaining of loud snoring.
Untreated, sleep apnea can lead to potentially life threatening diseases such as a cardiac disease, stroke, and diabetes.

The Sleep Wellness Center at Griffin Hospital offers state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in a comfortable, hotel room-like setting.
Conditions such as sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs, and narcolepsy can be effectively identified and treated to improve one's health.
The presentation is part of Griffin Hospital's Healthy U “Tuesday Talks,” a series of free wellness talks featuring Griffin Hospital medical experts and community partners providing trusted health information and answers to questions on a wide range of topics.

All Tuesday Talks are held in Griffin Hospital’s Meditation and Learning Center, 130 Division St. Light refreshments will be served.
To reserve a spot or for more information, call 203-732-1511 or visit griffinhealth.org.
