Crews douse fire at Shelton home

SHELTON >> The new year had just started, but local fire crews were ready to go when flames broke out in the attic of a city home.
Firefighters responded to the home on Cedar Hill Road at 12:17 a.m. Thursday and found flames and smoke showing from both sides of the attic, according to a post on the Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 1 Facebook page.

Seymour fire departments reap rewards from Founders Day

SEYMOUR >> The town’s two volunteer fire departments have been able to purchase some beneficial equipment geared to keep firefighters safe in the line of duty, thanks to proceeds from this year’s 5th annual Founders Day event.
According to Founders Day Association President Linda Bellavance, the festival held in June raised nearly $18,000 in profits, which was equally distributed to the two selected benefactors, Citizens Engine Co. No. 2 and Great Hill Hose Co.

Derby dedicates park to lifelong resident

DERBY - This morning I covered a ceremony at Storm Engine Company firehouse to dedicate a recreational park on O'Sullivan's Island in memory of the one and only Eddie Cotter.
The ceremony was forced inside because of rain.

I'm sure the message on the cake at the reception sums up the thoughts of many of the family and friends who were in attendance.



Below is a photo of the monument that was projected on the wall of the firehouse during the ceremony.
