Ansonia nature center to hold program about Mars

ANSONIA - Andy Poniros, an affiliate of NASA, and Bob Carruthers, a retired civil engineer with a passionate interest and expertise in astronomy, will host a program about the red planet at 7 p.m. April 13 at the nature center.

With the landing of the Curiosity Rover, there is a lot of new information to share, including the Mars landing techniques.

If the weather is clear, telescopes will be ready for viewing the night sky.
A thin-crested moon should be visible as well as Jupiter and its moons, the seven sisters, the Orion constellation and Orion Nebulae, and Saturn and its rings.

Participants should dress for the weather.
Call 203-736-1053 to register for this free program, which the center has dubbed "Spring star party."

The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center is at 10 Deerfield Road.
