ANSONIA - Police are nearing an arrest in the investigation of a theft of funds from the John G. Prendergast Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization account, Lt. Andrew Cota said today.
“We are waiting for one more (item) from the bank,” he said. ”It appears as though it’s a criminal (case). We anticipate a warrant in the near future.”
Cota said the theft “is in the range of thousands of dollars.”
No suspect has been named.
In February, Cota said police were investigating a theft from the PTO.
The police department received a complaint Jan. 26 from Superintendent of Schools Carol Merlone, Cota said.
