Imaginations soar at Derby library

DERBY - Vivid imaginations were the order of the day Thursday at Derby Public Library.

I attended a program featuring skaters from "Disney on Ice Presents Worlds of Fantasy." The Disney ice show is now playing at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.

I got there a few minutes early and found a group of preschoolers sitting cross-legged on the floor. I assumed they made up most of the audience.

I was wrong.

As the minutes ticked by, more little children - the oldest were kindergartners - filed into the room accompanied by their teachers. Lots of them.

Skater Sarah Nolan of Ontario, Canada reads a Disney story to the group.

It was amazing to see so many kids on their best behavior in a confined space. Kudos to their teachers and caregivers!

Below you can see who was the star of the presentation:

Tinker Bell greets the room full of kids.

As I left the library what struck me was the innocence of the children, who were so excited to meet Tinker Bell and have their photos taken with her.
She truly became real to them that morning.
