DERBY >> The city is looking into a situation where homeless people are
supposedly living in makeshift tents in the woods near the Derby Greenway.
Alderman Art Gerckens, who also chairs the aldermen’s community relations
subcommittee, said several residents informed the committee this week about the
issue.
“There have been people living there … and it has been reported to several
aldermen that there is a vagrant problem,” Gerckens said. “We also were informed
there has been a burglary or two to the businesses in that area.”
