DERBY — A city man is facing first-degree assault charges after a domestic dispute Sunday night at 326 Derby Ave. that left another man in critical condition, police said.
Sean Rasmussen, 41, of 326 Derby Ave., was charged with assault in the first degree.
He was arraigned Monday at Derby Superior Court and is being held in lieu of $350,000 bail at the Bridgeport Correctional Facility, according to police.
When police arrived at the residence Sunday night they found a man lying on the floor in a large pool of blood, suffering from a traumatic injury to his head and cuts to his arm, according to reports.
The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He was in critical but stable condition, according to police.
A few hours later the Derby Police Department, with the assistance of the West Haven Police Department, arrested Rasmussen.
