'Families of Oxford' is theme of annual peach festival

This photo of the Ward Family of Riggs Street will be among the historic family photos shown at the Oxford Historical Society Peach Festival Aug. 27. Residents are invited to submit their family photos for inclusion in the exhibit.

OXFORD - The Oxford Historical Society's Annual Peach Festival will be held from 4-7 p.m. Aug. 27 in St. Peter's Episcopal Church Hall, 2 Dutton Road.
Admission is $1. All proceeds go towards renovating the Twitchell Rowland Homestead for a town museum.
Refreshments include fresh homemade peach shortcake, peaches, Rich's Farm peach ice cream and beverages.
This year's Peach Festival theme is "Families of Oxford." Photos of families who have lived in Oxford for generations will be on display. Families who have moved into Oxford more recently are also invited to submit pictures to be shared, as they are a part of the town's heritage as well . Labeled photos may be sent to Dorothy DeBisschop, Oxford Historical Society, P. O. Box 585, Oxford, CT. 06478, or left at the desk in the Oxford Public Library. All photos will be returned.
The program will feature maps, photos, and videos of the historic Hale Peach Orchards of Seymour and Oxford.
