Ansonia fire chief put on leave after guns stolen from his office

ANSONIA — Mayor James Della Volpe put Fire Chief Ronald Burgess on unpaid administrative leave Wednesday after learning that Burgess had stored firearms on city property.
Della Volpe said he made the decision after learning of a burglary at the fire chief’s office, in which firearms were stolen. The firearms are legally registered to Burgess, police said.
